Investing in Stronger Glass Recycling: 2025 GRF Grant Applications Open June 9

Glass Recycling Grants Are Now Within Reach

Support for infrastructure, education, and innovation in glass recovery through grants

The Glass Recycling Foundation (GRF) is helping to close critical gaps in the U.S. glass recycling system by funding on-the-ground projects that make a measurable difference. From collection infrastructure to public education, GRF grants empower communities to improve access to glass recycling, reduce contamination, and boost recovery rates.

In 2025, eligible public and nonprofit organizations can apply for up to $30,000 to support projects that either demonstrate new solutions or educate the public about the benefits of glass recycling. RRS is proud to support GRF in its work to increase glass recycling through education, grant-making, and creating pilot programs for effective glass recycling.

Who Can Apply — and What Gets Funded

Eligible applicants include:

  • Nonprofits

  • Local and state governments

  • Public waste authorities and publicly owned MRFs

Eligible projects fall into two categories:

  • Demonstration Projects: Addressing supply chain challenges by improving infrastructure.
Examples: Drop-off containers, hauling systems, cleaning or sorting equipment.

  • Education Projects: Increasing awareness and improving participation through outreach.
Examples: Signage, ad campaigns, staff training, or case studies.

Preference will be given to projects with matching funds (25% or more), clear collaboration plans, and a measurable impact. Past recipients have used GRF grants to launch curbside collection programs, install drop-off bins, and expand access to commercial and residential recycling services.

How to Apply — and Why It Matters

Glass is endlessly recyclable, but local barriers often prevent it from being captured and reused. GRF grants support practical, replicable solutions to help communities get more glass where it belongs: back into the circular economy.

The 2025 application window is open June 9 - July 16. Applicants should be prepared to share:

  • The need for the project and how it supports glass recovery

  • Clear goals, metrics, and a one-year timeline

  • A budget with justification and any matching funds

  • A plan for long-term sustainability beyond the grant
