Optimizing MRF Operations Nationwide

Closed Loop Partners’ Center for the Circular Economy and American Beverage have released a new best practices guide to help U.S. materials recovery facilities (MRFs) strengthen operations and recovery outcomes. RRS supported the project with technical expertise and operational insights, contributing to guidance that helps MRFs boost recovery rates, improve material quality, and build resilience amid expanding extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies. The guide provides clear, tactical tools—from performance metrics and equipment maintenance to staff organization and industry collaboration—to help operators adapt and thrive in a changing recycling landscape.
